The attractions for poker players in Las Vegas are many and varied, and now it can boast a new card room after the opening of a 6-table poker room at the Westgate Resort and Casino, just one block from the iconic ‘strip’ – home to the Bellagio, Wynn, Venetian and many other famous casinos.

The opening of the new room was a quiet affair last Wednesday, supervisor David Fried claiming that “It will be word of mouth at first,” as they make what is a fourth attempt to introduce poker into the Westgate property – previous incarnations being closed down in the early noughties, then in 2007 and again in 2014.

The massive complex ‘offers 2,956 guestrooms arranged over 30 floors, is home to more than 10 restaurants and 5 bars/lounges, spa, fitness center, salon, pool and cabanas, shopping, golf, tennis courts, wedding chapel and a Las Vegas Monorail onsite for easy access to The Strip,’ according to Worldcasinodirectory.com.

They also state that: ‘The 95,000 square feet of gaming features over 700 slots and video poker machines, more than 30 table games and of course the 30,000 square feet, 350-plus seat Race & Sports SuperBook®.’

The latest poker room to offer players an ‘intimate poker experience’ has taken over what was formerly the ‘Fan Cave’ for sportsbook fans, Fried explaining to CardsChat.com that:

“We have the three large projection TVs on one wall and four large flat screens on the other. I want to get some more TVs on the other side as well. It will be perfect for football season.”

Fried said of the new cardroom: “[Management] really wanted to open this up again,” which “happened pretty quickly,” the room offering $1-2 NLHE, $2-4 and $3-6 Limit Hold’em, and probably PLO as well should the demand be there.

They also plan to hold daily tournaments with a $40 buy-in, starting at 11am and 7pm and Fried has plans to offer incentives to players to hang around, stating: “We’ll start giving away buffets or restaurants credits starting at three hours of play,” with the Westgate Poker Room opening daily from 8am to 2am.
