Day 3 of the Main Event of Eureka Rozvadov kicked off with 28 players remaining in the hunt for the title. That number was reached yesterday after the field of 255 was decimated over nine levels of play. The man returning with the highest hopes today is Ratislav Paleta, who bagged the chip lead with 1,194,000 betting discs.

However, all top 5 players are quite tightly packed, as they are all over a million in chips. Roman Blaha, Langar Oghabian, Marc Radgen and Raphael Wimmer will all be in serious contention today. As for Paleta, his huge stack materialized after he was able to crack his opponents’ pocket rockets not once, but twice, to see him surge into the chip lead in a span of five minutes.

Yesterday was a big day for the players as they saw the bubble burst. A total of 95 players made the money in Rozvadov’s King Casino, with Germany’s Atik Miah claiming the unflattering title of bubble boy. Others who fell before reaching the money included the likes of Zoltan Gal and Sam Grafton. Thus, Gal will not be repeating his success from the Eureak 4 event in Vienna where he claimed the title.

The inaugural event of this year’s PokerStars Eureka Poker Tour attracted 664 entries, creating a prize pool of €644,080. The lion’s share of that total, €119,200, is reserved for the eventual winner who will be crowned tomorrow.

The plan today is to keep playing until only eight (or even six) players remain. At that point, play will be stopped and the remaining players will return tomorrow to compete for the title and the six-figure first place prize.

The last couple of days saw a lot of exciting poker action go down in the small Czech town of Rozvadov, with numerous side events to go along with the Main including the High Roller that featured a buy-in of €2,200. That tournament kicked off yesterday and attracted 39 players, including Matthias De Meulder and King’s Casino owner Leon Tsoukernik.

All this leads up to the exciting finale that will take place tomorrow when the first champion of Eureka Season 5 will be crowned!
