Gus Hansen No Show for Isildur1 Matchup

Two weeks ago, we reported about Full Tilt promotion announcing Gus Hansen and Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom heads up showdown. Two high stake legends were supposed to battle it out in a best-of-three set up, where each player selected one game and the third one was selected by the public vote on Full Tilt blog.

The big moment was supposed to take place on Sunday, September 14th, but all those who were anxiously awaiting for this match were left disappointed – as Gus was nowhere to be seen. This was even more disappointing as one of the well known 2+2 members, famous for his very popular podcasts, ‘ChicagoJoey’ even set up a live stream joined by Brian Hastings to do a live commentary of the action.

Jake Cody took Hansen’s place, played against Viktor, lost all three sit and goes and that was it. The whole community was pretty much left in disbelief as there was not even a slightest warning or explanation concerning this last-minute change.

I heard he set up a self-exclusion rule that kicked in at $20mil. Just can't log on anymore. MicroRoller;

But as it often happens, couple posters quickly turned the whole thing into a joke with comments mostly related to Hansen’s losses at the online nosebleeds tables. Thus, one poster commented that this was a clear indication that Gus had no money problems as if he had, he would be doing everything he could to keep his relationship with Full Tilt in good standing. Others claimed that his could be an indication of just how much of a ‘degen’ the Great Dane was while the real reason behind his failure to show up remained unknown.

Full Tilt Remains Silent

Interesting thing is that Full Tilt remained completely silent regarding the entire matter, as there was not even a single post on their Twitter trying to explain the situation, while earlier the promotion was pushed quite hard, including a sub-promotion where the best two selfies with pictures of either Isildur1 or Hansen would receive the tickets to flipout freerolls.

Now that Gus did not show to play, everybody’s wondering what is going to happen with the whole promotion, as players were picking their sides between the Dane and the Swede. Now that there was no Dane anywhere, how will they determine who gets the tickets?

This sort of thing would perhaps not be as shocking before, but now that Full Tilt is run by the same company that runs Poker Stars it is really puzzling how they could allow for a failure of this magnitude to take place without even addressing it. When the acquisition first took place, they did say that the companies would continue to operate as two separate entities but perhaps it is time to reconsider that decision.
