Main Event of EPT Barcelona Underway
9 years ago21 Aug
The festivities have started in Barcelona couple days ago with the Super High Roller event. That title went to Olivier Busquet yesterday, but a €50K entry fee was somewhat steep for most. However, the €5,300 Main Event is much more reasonable and accessible to majority of serious players and some amateurs seeking the thrill.
Right now, players are on their 75-minute dinner break and there are already more than 500 entries. This number will continue to grow today and over the upcoming Day 1 flights. Some of notable names in the field today include Michael Mizrachi, Dominik Nitsche, Vitaly Lunkin, Fabian Quoss and many others.
Vanessa Selbst had a short day as she was eliminated only few hours into the event. The same happened with Fabrice Soulier and Jean Robert Bellande who were all sent to look for their luck in one of the upcoming events. On the other hand, ‘TheGrinder’ seems to be doing quite well for the time being, accumulating chips and grinding his stack up and up. Busquet has done well for himself so far as well, while PokerStars player Johnny Lodden had an uneventful start, but was able to find some traction during the last two hours before the break.
More action last two hours.. And some good action. 80k dinner break. #EPT100#eptnor

Apart from the happenings on the felt, we’ve also learned a bit about the prices of snacks and treats in Barcelona and it seems that sound advice would be – bring your own snacks!
Lad just asked for a banana here at #EPTBarcelona, got charged €3 and was handed an apple.

I'm not saying the snacks at #EPTBarcelona are expensive but I just saw a guy charged 3 voucher books for taking a photo of a hotdog.

So far, everybody seems to be in a great mood – and why wouldn’t they be. They are playing in a beautiful venue for a shot at big money and those who got eliminated early can easily find something to keep them preoccupied (just stay away from snacks). Tensions usually sets in latter when the event goes deep and everybody is already seeing that trophy in their hands.
Players will be back in their seats soon and action should continue for couple more levels before breaking for the night. We will keep an eye for interesting things to report in our live reports section until EPT Barcelona Main Event reaches its climax on Wednesday, when a champion will be crowned!
