PokerStars in Search for Protégés

In a press release sent out earlier today, PokerStars have announced a new, exciting competition that will be taking place during this year’s World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP). The competition named ‘The Protégé’ is exactly what it sounds like. Four lucky players will get a chance to become the protégés of Team PokerStars Pros.

Winners will get to receive training from four of the best players in the world - Andre Akkari, Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier, Eugene Katchalov and Vanessa Selbst together with the entry to three WCOOP events, including the $5,300 $10 million guaranteed Main Event. The top earner in these WCOOP events will also receive a package to 2015 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.

Qualifying tournaments will take place from July 20 to August 3, with four daily qualifying events with the buyin of $5.50, depending on the star you would like to see as your mentor. The prize pool will be distribute to the participants as always, but in addition to this, top two finishers will get to make a one-minute video and send it to the mentor, explaining reasons why they should be given the opportunity to become a protégé.

Once all the qualifiers are done, every pro will select their two favorites and then these eight videos will be posted for the public vote. Four users with most votes will then become the PokerStars protégés, receiving all of the above mentioned benefits.

‘The Protégé’ is the latest of PokerStars exciting promotions that always strive to offer something new and unique to their players.
