Unibet Open €1,100 Main Event kicked off earlier today with Day 1A. The tournament will feature two starting flights today and tomorrow after which players will combine into a single pool on Day 2 on Saturday. The winner will be determined on Sunday and the final table will be streamed live with hole cards and appropriate delay to protect the integrity of the game.

Taking place in the Casino Barriere La Croisette, Unibet Open in Cannes will certainly attract great number of poker professionals and amateurs alike. Traditionally, Unibet tournaments are dominated by players from Denmark and Netherlands but representatives of other European countries will most certainly not be lacking either.

The whole tournament will, in fact, be streamed live – or at least a selected feature table which, at the moment, represents a home for the likes of Quentin Lecommte and Pieter de Korver. The Main Event is capped at 400 players, so the prize pool will not be exceeding €400,000, but judging by the previous experiences, the field will probably be capped.

The registration during the first two days will remain open throughout Level 4, and players are slowly gathering in the tournament area. Some of the names being mentioned are that of Tomas Brolin, Swedish football legend turned poker pro, Jorma Vuoksenmaa of Finland, Mateusz Moolhuizen and many others.

Another tradition at Unibet Open is their bad beat promotion, which guarantees the first five online qualifiers (or direct online buy-ins) to bust during either of two day one flights a seat in the Unibet Sunday Open.

As it is still early days in Cannes, there is not much to report on as of now, but we will be keeping a close eye on the developments and bring you reports from the green felt accordingly. You can also find live updates for the event on Unibet poker blog.
