It’s been another big week in the world of live tournament poker. While there wasn't a huge amount of events, those events that did take place were some of the most prestigious in the game.

Scott Davies Wins WSOP APAC Main Event

The main focus of poker for the last week was on the land down under in the city of Melbourne. That was where the WSOP Asia Pacific took (and is still taking) place.

The Main Event of the series was played over the last week and featured a number of famous faces like Phil Hellmuth, Antonio Esfandiari and last year’s Main Event winner, Daniel Negreanu.

With 329 participants, the competition was fierce, but Scott Davies was able to face up to it and capture the Gold Bracelet after five days of play.

It was a case of “good things come to those who wait” for Davies, who had 16 WSOP in the money finishes before his WSOP Asia Pacific Main Event victory.

Jack Salter settled for second place in the event, but that was still good enough for him to take home AU$516,960.

In the other main WSOP APAC event of the last week, German player George Danzer won his third WSOP Gold Bracelet this year after he took out the $5,000 8-Game Mix event.

Brett Angell the King at UKIPT Grand Final

The UKIPT Grand Final in London attracted a horde of players – 1,089 of them to be exact.

At the end of it all it was 30-year-old British player Brett Angell who rose above the field and won the event and its ÂŁ115,083 (around US$185,000) first place cash prize.

While Angell was the chip leader when the final table began, he had a relatively quiet start to it as Fabricio Fuchs eliminated three of the first five players from the table.

However, Angell maintained his chip lead going into heads-up play with Fuchs when he eliminated Sandro Mescola in third place.

It looked to be just what he needed as he eventually knocked Fuchs out of the event in second spot to be the last man sitting at the prestigious event.

Sebastian Pauli Wins EPT London Main Event

The UKIPT Grand Final was not the only major poker event held in London last week. The EPT London series is also underway.

German player Sebastian Pauli won the Main Event and its £499,700 (around US$804,090) cash prize. It was the end of what was truly a stellar performance by Pauli as he held the chip lead from the final 16 and barely relinquished it in the event’s latter stages.

Kevin MacPhee was the runner-up at the Main Event. Despite having far fewer chips then Pauli when heads-up play began, MacPhee played relentlessly and even doubled his stack after heads-up play began.

Pauli retained his composure, however, and eventually won the event when his Ace Queen held on to beat the Ace Ten of MacPhee.

Andrew Chen won the High Roller Event at the EPT London. While he had the shortest stack of the final three players of the event, Chen’s solid play ensured that he took out the event and its £394,200 (around US$634,325) cash prize.
