The World Series of Poker Asia – Pacific has now come to a conclusion. Ten events have named its winners, 10 bracelets have found new owners, and the proudest amongst them is Scott Davies who triumphed in the AU$10,000 Main Event!

329 players ponied-up the required buy-in, paying for their seats at the tables and creating the prize pool of AU$3,125,000. They played and battled for five days before the last card would hit the felt and the winner was named.

Final Table of Six

The last day would see the remaining six players bring it back to the tables for one final time. The only lady in the mix, Ang Italiano, was coming back as the short stack, with only 500,000 to her name, while the UK pro Jack Salter was firmly in lead with more than 3.2 million in chips.

Italiano was the first one eliminated, earning AU$118,769, followed by Frank Kassela (AU$164,089) and Kyle Montgomery (AU$231,287). This left Henry Wang to look for his spot against the remaining two, who both had nearly 3:1 chip advantage over him. It wasn’t to be for Wang however, as he ran into pocket Aces of Davies to exit in third, earning AU$343,805.

Claiming the Bracelet

Scott Davies and Jack Salter subsequently started their heads-up battle for the bracelet, and the UK pro was clearly the more experienced of the two. Scott Davies, USA citizen now residing in Vancouver, Canada, had a burning desire to claim the bracelet to overcome the disadvantage.

In this instance, the desire triumphed over the experience as couple of hours later, Davies managed to bring his opponents to the knees. Davies was, no doubt, helped by a great run of cards and he admitted himself that he has probably never run better in a single day.

Davies claimed AU$850,136 for his victory, while the runner-up Salter took home AU$516,960. But for Scott, money is of lesser importance, as he explained in his interview for the WSOP.com. The American explained that although it was a lot of money, winning the bracelet meant everything for him.

This is the man who created and updated an online blog devoted to a single goal – claiming a WSOP bracelet and when he found himself sitting at the final table, he had one sole goal – to win. Moving up the pay-leader was of no importance.

The Career Continues

With this newly found money and confidence, Davies will now be on his way to Macau to try his luck there. A poker pro as of ten years ago, Scott Davies has finally had a breakthrough his dreams were made off.

This is the Super Bowl to me. It’s all I’ve ever wanted. When I decided I was going to play poker for a living I just remember Chris Moneymaker winning the Main Event and thought one day I might get a chance to do that. Scott Davies for WSOP.com Blog;

A story that would probably have an even bigger impact had the first place been in the high 7-figures category, but the one that will, nonetheless, probably (re)kindle poker flame in many up and coming players or those still waiting for their breakthrough!
