Deandrew Deshawn Harris was found guilty of robbery during a poker game back in 2012.

At the time of the robbery, Harris was out on bond waiting for the outcome of burglary and theft charges. Sanjin Kvakic, the victim of the robbery, was playing poker at a friend’s townhouse on 19th August 2012 when someone broke in. Namho Kye, Fahret Ahmetasevic, Denis Kekic, Selvedin Saric and Sanjin Kvakic were in the townhouse that night playing poker and video games.

Harris was the first one who entered the room with a hoodie over his head while other robbers forced victims to the ground. The robbers hit and kicked the players and took their wallets, money, cell phones, and a Play Station.

Four of the five victims picked Harris out of photo lineups only an hour after the robbery. Sanjin said that Harris pointed a silver handgun at his head while threatening to kill him. Police officers used GPS tracking for one of the stolen cell phones and found the victims' phones, a 25-caliber handgun, and a black Beretta pistol under some bushes about three blocks from the townhouse.

During the investigation, blood found on the silver handgun matched Harris’ profile. Harris was charged with first degree robbery, burglary, and as a felon in possession of a firearm. No one else involved in the crime was arrested.

During the trial, Harris’ friend testified that they were together at the house watching TV and playing games at the time of the robbery. However, the evidence against Harris was overwhelming. He could face up to 25 years in prison, with a minimum of 17 required to be served before parole eligibility. Harris' lengthy criminal record and being in possession of a firearm with a felony conviction could mean a stiff sentence.
