Heads-Up Bracelet Battle Leads To Wedding Bells For WSOP Couple

‘To have and to hold’em!’ was just one of the many comments on the lovely story that Kate Hoang and Julien Martini have tied the knot, a year after playing heads-up for a WSOP gold bracelet.

The poker love affair was sparked at last summer’s WSOP in Vegas, Frenchman Martini and Seattle-based Hoang tangling in a three-hour plus battle to decide the $1,500 Omaha Hi/Lo title.

Martini prevailed, winning $239,771 and the coveted gold jewellery, but that’s not all he won, stealing Hoang’s heart along the way.

The Taiwan-resident pro explained to PokerNews afterwards:

"I played with her a lot on Day 2 and Day 3. She's playing great, actually. She is very unconventional; I am not used to playing this kind of player. She is very tough and very hard to play, and a great opponent."

As for Kate Hoang, she admitted she was “nervous as f***,” adding:

“It’s hard being in a big man’s world. I tried.”

A few months later and the duo were an item, sharing Instagram pics of their relationship….
