James Woods Wins HORSE Championship at Binion's For $14K

If James Woods hadn't found his calling as a Hollywood movie star, perhaps poker would have been his next choice in career paths.

The outspoken actor with a penchant for fanning flames on social media with his conservative political leanings topped 169 entrants at Binion's over the weekend in a $585 H.O.R.S.E. Championship to win $14,570.  Woods' career earnings surpassed $300K with the victory and it marked his first time posing for a winner's photo since binking the $1,100 Omaha 8 or Better event at the 2016 WPT L.A Poker Classic for $21,065.

In between those two titles, Woods cashed in live poker tournaments almost three dozen times, according to the Hendon Mob database. That includes two paydays at this year's WSOP, the best of which was a 5th place finish in $1,500 Dealers Choice 6 Handed for $23,686.

Woods' following on Twitter is enormous, 1.57 million at last count. That tops even Dan Bilzerian's Twitter fan club of 1.44 million. They are two of the most polarizing figures on social media - for different reasons - with poker being a big part of the lives of each.
