Lex Veldhuis Puts Himself in Line of Fire During PokerStars DDoS Attack

PokerStars ambassador Lex Veldhuis gained some mad respect from his legion of followers and many others in the poker community by making himself available to answer questions during the poker site's recent downtime caused by a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack.

The outage occurred over the weekend, wiping out a bunch of scheduled tournaments, including six Main Events of PokerStars' prestigious World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) on Sunday, Sept. 26.

Players were angry and frustrated when online play was halted due to the DDoS attack, as many were in the midst of competing for big bucks in tournament action. Veldhuis dutifully went live on his Twitch channel in order to answer player questions with regard to matters such as how prize money would be divvied up in tourneys that were forced to shut down.

As you might expect, the questions came fast and furiously. Veldhuis was bombarded with every imaginable question on the live chat, doing his very best to assuage players affected by the disruption in play.

The live, no-delay stream by the Dutch poker pro was immensely helpful to PokerStars' players and it showed Veldhuis to be extremely dedicated to his role as site ambassador. It certainly proves why the 38-year-old is such a fan favorite.

PokerStars' players that may have missed the live stream on Twitch and are still wondering about refunds and compensation and such, Veldhuis summed it up rather succinctly when he said this in response to a concerned player: "PokerStars has always been historically fair whenever this happens."
