The Powerball jackpot has risen to a jaw-dropping $725 million after rolling over for 27 consecutive draws, creating mass excitement and anticipation among regular players. The jackpot reached this staggering amount after no winning tickets were sold in Wednesday night’s draw, making it the eighth-largest prize in the game’s history.
More than One Million Prizes in the Last Draw
The odds of winning the grand prize are 1 in 292.2 million, according to the game. Although the chance of winning is slim, more than a million tickets across the country won a prize of some kind in the last draw.
The winning numbers from the last drawing were 16, 27, 59, 62, 63, with a Powerball number of 23 and a Power Play option of 3x.
While no one claimed the jackpot, there were still some lucky winners. One player from Georgia won $1 million by matching all five white numbers, while another two players from Georgia and Texas won $2 million each via the Power Play option.
The largest Powerball jackpot of 2023 was won in July by a lucky player from California, who took home an astounding $1.08 billion. This remains the third-largest prize in the game’s history. The next Powerball drawing will be held at 10:59 pm ET Saturday.
Powerball is a lottery game where players select five numbers between 1 and 69 for the white balls, then select one number between 1 and 26 for the red Powerball. The draw is held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 pm ET at the Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee.
The Powerball jackpot grows until it is won, and players win a prize by matching one of the 9 ways to win. The jackpot is won by matching all five white balls in any order and the red Powerball. Jackpot winners may choose to receive their prize as an annuity, paid in 30 graduated payments over 29 years, or a lump-sum payment.
