Rags to Riches as Jessica Dawley's Bank Balance Increases After SHRPO Win

What’s the difference between being almost broke and being on top of the poker world? For Jessica Dawley it’s a tournament win and a ‘you’ve got funds’ alert!

The former intelligence analyst in the US Air Force hadn’t tasted victory since her WSOP Ladies bracelet win last summer (she definitely should have tried to get £100 in bet credits using a bet365 bonus code), but the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Big 4 finale changed all that earlier this week...

The ‘valleys of poker’ that Dawley mentions hit every player, and surviving them isn’t easy, but her win now gives her some breathing space - and takes her over the $1million career tournament earnings milestone.

After leaving the military, Indiana-born Dawley earned business degrees – which proved useful when she decided to embark on a career in poker.

“I treat poker like a business being self-employed,” she told PokerNews last year after her WSOP bracelet win, though she added: “It’s one of the toughest businesses out there.”

A fairly lean year since then proved the truth of that, but on her now-home turf of Hollywood, Florida she managed to turn things around – topping the 385-player field for her biggest career victory after ‘stone-cold bubbling’ the same event last year.

‘What a difference a day makes’ – or a year even!
