Long-time World Poker Tour commentator Vince Van Patten will be producing and co-starring in “Duke of the Valley,” an indie sitcom series its creators are currently marketing for a network or online home. The series, which stars Van Patten’s son Duke Van Patten and Caitlyn (formerly Bruce) Jenner, is based on the “lives of residents in a fictional San Fernando Valley apartment building.”

The series, which is being scripted by the younger Van Patten, is loosely based on the memoirs of Van Patten family scion Dick Van Patten, famed as the star of the long-running TV hit “Eight is Enough”. In 2009, Dick Van Patten co-authored his biography “Eighty Is Not Enough!”, in which he shared many anecdotes from his long acting career. Dick Van Patten also preceded son Vince as a poker commentator, calling the action for filmed coverage of the WSOP for a few years in the mid-’90s.

While framed on the background of Dick Van Patten’s early life, the current series features grandson/son Duke as “Duke” in a modernized but very familiar Hollywood storyline, that of a struggling actor who encounters comedic situations while searching for his big break.

Jenner plays a “trashy” transwoman named Heather who sells perfume, while Thai Fong plays Heather’s roommate, Fong. Other familiar acting faces include “The Young and the Restless” alumnus Eileen Davidson (as a washed-up actress) and “White Collar” co-star Willie Garson.

Vince Van Patten drops in as a murderer named Skippy who camps outside the apartment building, while Vince’s other son, James, also has a supporting role as “Jimmy”, Duke’s uncle who also owns the rundown apartment building where the series is set. For Vince, it’s his second straight indie effort, coming after his role as a different “Duke” in the 2019 gambling-themed film “7 Days to Vegas”.

This latest Van Patten family project has reportedly completed shooting on its first episode, which would likely be its pilot, but the project has yet to be signed to a network deal or offer any planned broadcast dates.
