Next HPO Stop in Charlestown

The third season of HPO (Hollywood Poker Open ) will try to bring as much excitement as the previous two, albeit with more stops, more players and more money up for grabs. The next HPO event will take place from April 30 to May 10 and will be held in West Virginia’s Hollywood Casino at Charlestown Races.

Probably the most exciting thing about HPO season three is that Team PokerStars Pro Chris Moneymaker will be participating in all regional events. The Main Event, which is scheduled to begin on May 9th, will feature a buy-in of $1,115. Apart from the cash, the winner will receive free entry to the $500,000 guaranteed Championship event scheduled to take place in June at the M Resort in Las Vegas.

Owned and operated by Penn National Gaming, Hollywood Casino is not far from Washington, D.C. and the Baltimore beltways. It features a poker room with 26 tables, but more tables will be added during the HPO to accommodate everyone who would like to participate in the event. Hollywood Casino also features Las Vegas style action with live roulette, craps and blackjack.

The poker manager of the Hollywood Casino, Aaron Shreve, has expressed his excitement about the upcoming event. He is thrilled that players will have a chance to compete for a free entry to the Main Event in Las Vegas alongside the cash prizes.

Due to the success of the previous two seasons of the HPO, it is expected that more than a thousand poker players from the area and neighboring regions will gather to experience 11 days of exciting poker action.

The main attraction of the event is, of course, one of the best known faces on the poker scene, Chris Moneymaker. The former World Series of Poker Main Event Champion is currently serving as the tour ambassador for the Hollywood Poker Open and he is competing in regional tournaments that started in November.

The lifetime opportunity to play against the legendary pro connected to the poker boom is something that really attracts players to HPO tournaments. Although Moneymaker will play all the events, he will also participate in the qualifier satellites in order to give players a chance to rub elbows with him in addition to winning some valuable prizes.

Hollywood Poker Tour will award winners with beautiful trophies and the player who manages to earn the highest number of points in eleven of the HPO’s featured events will receive the Regional Points Champion Trophy.
