Eureka Poker Tour is playing out its fifth season and so far the tour has been nothing but success. It visited a number of countries and cities across the Europe, but somehow Germany did not make the cut. Up until today, that is.

Just a few hours ago, the first ever Eureka event to take place in Germany saw the cards fly through the air at the Spielbank Schenefeld Casino in Hamburg. It all starts with the Day 1A of the €1,100 Main Event today, with Day 1B taking place tomorrow. Then a short break will follow, during which other tournaments will still play out, and Days 1C and 1D will take place on Wednesday and Thursday. Surviving players will finally be united on Friday for the Day 2.

The reason for having four starting flights instead of two is the fact that Spielbank Schenefeld Casino is relatively small establishment, with only 20 poker tables, so there is a limited number of players that can play at the same time. Regardless, the organizers certainly hope for a big attendance.

According to the early reports, some 100 players have already taken their seats in Hamburg and the registration is still open. Hitting a daily cap today would certainly be a good sign for the future flights, as it is almost a rule that there is a bigger interest for later starting flights.

Some of the notable faces in the crowd include Alexander Jung, the man who may not be a regular on the live scene, but nearly $1 million in career earnings are a testimony to his quality as a player as well as Maria Von Perger, mother of the fairly well known Jamila. Maria won her seat via an online qualifier and is battling it out today, trying to make it past the end of the last level.

Some players that we should see in the future flights include PokerStars Team Pro Jan Heitmann, EPT11 Player of the Year Dzmitry Urbanovich and Zoltan Gal, Eureka 4 champion from Vienna.

Apart from the Main Event, there is a plethora of other tournaments available all the way until Sunday, May 31, when the festival is scheduled to reach its conclusion with the final table of the Main Event and €165 Turbo Deepstack event.

Some of the events worth highlighting are certainly the €2,200 High Roller that kicks off on Monday, €330 Pot Limit Omaha event on Tuesday as well as €330 Eureka Hamburg Cup starting on Thursday. Overall, days before us are bound to be filled with a lot of exciting poker action and poker fans will once again have something to enjoy in as they root for their favorites.
