All three starting flights at the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Philippines Main Event have now been completed, and the rest of the event is set to be competitive.

A total of 123 players made the cut the second day of play out of 211 entries that were registered on Days 1A, 1B and 1C.

As with most major events, the last starting flight proved to be the most popular in this year’s main event, as players aimed to capitalise on the final chance for some tournament glory. 94 players turned out on Day 1C, a big difference from the 60 and 57 players who turned up on Day 1A and 1B respectively.

Out of those 94 players, 56 made it to Day 2, which is currently taking place at the Resorts World Manila in the country’s capital city.

Australia’s Ryan Hong had the chip lead of the remaining field when Day 2 began. Hong, who played on Day 1B, had 169,550 chips to his name when the second day of play began, but it meant nothing when play got underway.

At the time of writing, the remaining field in manila on Day 2 was whittled down to just 47 players, with a number of players having large stacks as the day got into its late stages.

One of those players is defending champion Feng Zhao, who made the short flight from Singapore to Manila to defend his coveted crown. The Singaporean had a stack of around 270,000 chips late in the second day of play, which came after a stellar day on the felt.

Zhao had a solid and timely boost to his chip stack when he eliminated a fellow player. The defending champion called the player’s all-in with Pocket Aces, which held on the board to boost Zhao’s stack by a little over 30,000 chips.

The prize pool for the APT Philippines Main Event has also been set, with the top 27 players standing to take home some sweet cash this year. However, there will only be one player in this year’s Main Event – the winner – who will leave with a six figure cash prize.

A total of US102,600 will go to the winner, a lion's share of the total prize pool of US409,300 that was accumulated for this event. We at PokerTube will continue to keep readers informed of all the major results from the APT Philippines Main Event over the coming days.
