4257.36

The number of points Byron Kaverman has accrued to take over top spot in the Global Poker Index (GPI) rankings.

Kaverman has been consistently in the top 10, but his excellent results this summer see him knocking Jason Mercier off the top spot –a place which he has held for the last 10 weeks.

The 29-year old from Fort Jennings, Ohio also jumps to 2nd place in the Player of the Year rankings, behind Anthony Zinno. The GPI top 300 differs from the PoTY in that it counts results over 6 half-year periods, and with Kaverman amassing over $5.8 million in life-time earnings it comes as no great surprise to see him astride the leaderboard.

His recent results at EPT Barcelona saw him cash-out for almost $200k, and he bagged $657,351 for winning the WSOP 6-handed NLHE title back in July. His biggest single win to-date was at last year’s Borgata Spring Poker Open, coming second in the $15k WPT re-entry event for a whopping $727,860.

$4,950,000

The amount Jens "Jeans89" Kyllönen has won since 2010 at the ‘nosebleed’ level games on PokerStars.

The online super- high-roller figures have been tracked since 2010 by highstakesdb.com, and this week’s results (a gain of some $265,029) brought Kyllönen to over $5million at one point.

His recorded 620,000+ hands, almost all at the PokerStars PLO cash tables, have seen him record a remarkable profit of $7.66 per hand, with scarcely a blip in his winning graph over the past 5 years.

HIghStakesdb describe him as “primarily a cash specialist
who has been a fixture in the highest stakes games for the better part of the last decade”. Although he started out as a NLHE player, the Finnish online sensation “quickly amassed a substantial bankroll that allowed him to take shots early in his poker career.”

Details of Kyllönen’s online earnings can be found here.

$116,935

The winner’s share of Full Tilt’s jackpot prize on ‘The Deal’, which found its way to an unsuspecting Canadian hockey coach.

Known only by the online name ‘dbecks23ex’, the surprised Toronto Blue Jays fan was initially unaware of just how much he had won – 50% of the total prize pool offered as part of Full Tilt’s new Players Club loyalty program.

Only after he had watched his team slump to defeat did the man realise the true extent of his win.

“At first I thought I won $116, and thought it was kind of cool, then I realised it was the jackpot and got an email from Full Tilt."

The Deal sees players being dealt 7 cards, discarding 2 of them, and then making the best hand possible from the remaining 5. The prize-fund is split between Royal Flush hands – the winner taking half of the progressive jackpot.

7321 other players picked up $15.97 apiece from their share of last Tuesday evening’s win.

This is the number – this time in billions of dollars! – which the online gaming industry brought to the economy of the Isle of Man last year.

Home to giants such as PokerStars’ parent company Amaya Inc. the small island has seen the gaming industry flourish to the extent that it is now officially the Isle of Man’s largest economic industry with a 16.7% share.

This equates to some $1.07 billion (£690 million) in the financial year 2013-14, and is a rise of 30% on the previous annual figures – which now puts the gambling sector ahead of the huge insurance industry, which accounts for 14.6% of the economy.

“The Isle of Man Government actively encourages the development of gambling and e-gaming business on the island”, according to the island’s Gambling Supervision Commission, and they also state: “It remains committed to delivering a stable government and strong regulatory environment, supported by a wide range of attractive business benefits”.

$25,800,000

The conservative estimate of the amount ‘stolen’ from Macau junket operator Dore Holdings by employees.

With the real figure being as much as 10 times higher, the ‘casino middle-man’ company - which caters for high-rolling gamblers on the Chinese-operated island - reportedly stated:

"Due to the seriousness of this event, which involved fraud, the group has filed a police report."

It is not the first such ‘fraud’. Last year Business Insider reported a similar incident of ‘theft’ where $1.3 billion went missing from the Kimren junket, referred by some analysts as Macau’s ‘Lehman Moment’, referring to the ‘cosmetic accounting’ at Lehman Brothers financial securities firm which played a pivotal role in the resulting global financial collapse.

Dore Holdings operate at least 25 tables reserved for the biggest gamblers at the Wynn casino, from a total of 461. It is expected by many analysts that this most recent incident will have a severe negative impact on the gambling industry in Macau.

Daiwa Capital analysts said:

Q"We are already seeing signs of this today, with individuals purportedly rushing to the junket (Dore) in an attempt to withdraw funds.";

ÂŁ24,170

The amount won by Dan Stacey at the PokerStars UKIPT stop in the Isle of Man yesterday.

Referred to as ‘PokerStars Official Home Game’ - the event being held in the online market leader’s place of residency - the tournament attracted a field of 349 players to the £440 buy-in Main Event.

At one point during the final table it looked as though the title would remain in the Stars HQ, when Paren Arzoomanian, who works in Poker Room Management for PokerStars, staked his place for glory.

It was online qualifier Stacey, however, who won out in the heads-up battle against the Sydney-born Arzoomanian after the players had agreed to chop 1st and 2nd prizes for ÂŁ19,000 (about $29,000) and play for the title plus ÂŁ5170.

When Stacey’s 2 pair filled out to a full house, beating Arzoomanian’s straight, he shouted out in delight, later stating for the PokerStars blog:

"I wanted the trophy dead bad."
