Carbon Poker to Use Social Media Instead of Affiliates

Carbon Poker has announced a new online poker tournament series beginning June 1 that features daily freerolls in which the guaranteed prize pools will increase if enough players interact with the poker room through social media.

The Carbon Social Online Poker Series (OPS) will run from June 1-14 with a $1,000 freeroll for the first 13 days and a $5,000 freeroll on June 14. The prize pool will spike $500 for each event provided that 15 Facebook Shares, Twitter Retweets or Instagram Likes are achieved daily at the social media platform used for each particular day.

Each day of the series, Carbon will post an image on one of the three social media platforms. If by 17:00 the post receives the required 15 actions, $500 more will be added to the prize pools. The freeroll password will be divulged on the same social media platform at 17:30.

Ironically, Carbon Poker announced to affiliates over a week ago that it would cease offering its affiliate program effective the 1st of June. Affiliates that referred players prior to June 1 will still be compensated accordingly, but no new player signups will be honored June 1 and beyond.

Without affiliates sending players to Carbon Poker, the site may slowly lose player traffic. Apparently, Carbon is hoping that new players will find out about the site via social media instead.
