Zynga Poker Tightens Security
9 years ago24 Feb
Social free-play online poker sites such as Zynga where many casual players go to enjoy some poker are not immune to security threats and cheating.
As strange as it may sound, hackers and scammers are practically everywhere on the Internet, looking for ways to separate you from your money. Even poker sites that cater to the social crowd.
Zynga Poker, the most popular free-play poker site, is well aware of the problem and has beefed up security as a result. The site has increased its activities surrounding fraud protection, aiming to do away with "scammers, phishers and online bad guys" and to ensure that poker play at Zynga is enjoyable and fun.
"We are continuing our long-term work to eliminate fraudulent activity and cheating in Zynga Poker, and are taking more measures to provide our players with a safe and fair experience," read an email recently sent to Zynga players.
PokerScout reports that Zynga Poker averages 38,500 players. That more than doubles the 16,000 free-play poker players who play for fun at PokerStars.
While racking up stacks of play chips may not be fun for you or I, it is for a lot of players who either don't trust real-money sites or don't trust their own level of play to be able to excel at those sites. Players can also buy play chips if they run out or want more, which many real-money players find both amazing and ludicrous.
If you're going to buy chips, why not buy for real-money instead of buying practically worthless play chips? But players do it and it's a huge business.
In any event, Zynga is taking necessary steps to protect those players. Click here for more information.
