David "Viffer" Peat

One of the more colorful players to have emerged onto the high stakes poker scene in recent years is David Peat.

One of the more colorful players to have emerged onto the high stakes poker scene in recent years is David Peat. Peat moved from Ohio to Las Vegas eight years ago in order to play poker professionally. In that time he has established himself as one of the best high stakes players in the game.

Known as ‘Viffer’ in the online poker world, David Peat is known to have a very loose style of play. In addition, his antics at the table have been known to both aggravate and to amuse players. Peat is also a regular fixture in the live Las Vegas cash game scene. He regularly plays limits of $300.00 – $600.00 and higher. He has also made several appearances on Television in recent years, including High Stakes Poker, Poker After Dark, and the Big Game. He can currently be seen on Season 7 of High Stakes Poker.

David Peat is known as a cash game specialist, but he has had some success in tournament world. He only has three cashes on his tournament record, but they are still quite impressive. His first cash was in a $1,500 NL Event in 2005. Two years later, he had a couple of impressive finishes in WPT events. First, he finished 2nd in a $5,000 NL preliminary event at the Five Star World Poker Classic that won him over $202,000. He then finished in 7th in the WPT Mirage Poker Showdown. That was the same event where Jonathan Little won his WPT title.

When not playing poker, Peat is known to be an avid partier. He has even admitted that he loves to party about as much as he likes to play poker. He enjoys hitting the clubs, shooting pool, hanging with friends, and chasing the girls around Las Vegas. A little known fact about Peat is that prior to playing poker for a living, he made his living as a professional pool player.

Two things you can expect when Peat is playing on Television. First, he will be involved in huge pots. Next, the table will not be boring. In a world of professional players that worry more about their image than about enjoying the game, Peat is a rare breed that plays poker for a living, and actually looks like he is enjoying it.
