The Rise of Poker Vlogs and Why They Have Taken the Poker World by Storm
So why have poker vlogs become such a hit with the poker community? And who are the top vloggers and up and comers to look out for in 2018?
The adopted ‘Boski’ moniker in place of his actual surname – Sluzinski – is an appropriate title for Jeff. With over twelve years of experience as a professional poker player, Jeff was one of the most successful online tournament players pre-Black Friday. Playing with the screenname ‘IcuRaRook’ on PokerStars, the Las Vegas resident finished in the top 0.1% on the Official Poker Rankings annual tournament leaderboard for a consecutive four years between 2008 and 2011. Between this period, he made more than $2,000,000 playing on this site alone.
Black Friday heavily disrupted Boski’s lifestyle, so much so that he transitioned to playing live tournaments and moved away from the online game. Being situated in Vegas already made this a natural progression for him and his skill on the online felt easily translated over to the live tables. He is approaching $1,000,000 in live tournament earnings, with over 20% of his winnings coming from WSOP events and his 33+ cashes he’s made there. Although he is yet to win a major title, he has come close on numerous occasions with final table finishes at 7 WSOP circuit events and a third-place at a $1,000 WPT Pot Limit Omaha event in 2016. Since MTTs are his bread and butter, he makes a significant portion of his winnings from the smaller recurring tournaments at Vegas casinos. In less than two months, Jeff shipped four of the $200 Wynn Casino Recurring Tournaments – these smaller field events give Boski a more reliable income that many larger-field MTT players lack.
Jeff has also become known for his poker vlog, with his channel being one of the more popular ones among tournament players. With scenic shots of Vegas and exciting footage from inside the grandest casinos, the footage he captures is enough to inspire anyone dreaming of a life in poker to make the trip over.
Continuing to show off his diversity of talents, Boski also regularly hosts a podcast over on the PokerTube channel. Guests have included online endboss Chris Moorman, Andrew ‘LuckyChewy’ Lichtenberger and fellow poker vlogger Brad Owen.
