Trickett Spotted On Sky Sports Giving Away World Cup Tickets!
Trickett was talking to Sky News journalists about how hard it was to find and England fan to take his spare ticket.
In the past ten years, Sam Trickett has went from almost becoming a professional footballer, to now being regarded as one of the best No Limit Holdem players ever.
Back in 2005, he suffered a knee injury playing football which caused him to give up his dreams of going professional. This injury turned him to the felt, with him playing locally in Sheffield. Once he had built up a bigger bankroll playing a few more live events and being fairly successful, he took to the online tables. He persisted to grind online and started to venture to bigger events around the UK, being stakes by several friends and other pros. It was from here where he started to hit the poker scene hard, and eventually took the plunge to Vegas at the end of 2007.
It wasn't until 2008 that Sam really hit some serious success in Vegas, coming 4th in a $5k event for around $240k. From then on, he slowly started to become the force he is in poker today, more recently being known for playing live cash games at nosebleed stakes in Macau for up to 6 weeks at a time. These games have reportedly included $2-3m pots with the likes of billionaire businessmen.
Without a doubt, the most notable story in the life of Sam Trickett is that of his second place finish in the WSOP Big One for One Drop Event in 2012. The $1m buy-in event was set up in aid of the One Drop charity where $111k from each buy-in was donated. Trickett was staked by Matchbook.com to play in the event, and Matchbook later released a Sam Trickett High Stakes documentary which followed him building up to this event. Sam took 2nd losing heads up to Antonio Esfandiari and took home a cool $10.1m for his efforts.
This further increased Trickett's quest to become recognised as one of the best No Limit Holdem players to ever play the game. You can watch the Sam Trickett - High Stakes Documentary here on PokerTube.
