Thomas Marchese

Thomas Marchese is a professional poker player and the winner of the 2012 WPT $100k Super High Roller. Find his Poker Biography & Videos here.

He may not have won a WSOP Gold Bracelet in his professional poker career so far, but that does not mean Tom Marchese is a lesser player than his Bracelet winning peers. In fact, the young poker shark from the US state of New Jersey is one of the best dark horses in the game of poker today, something shown by his US$12 million of total live poker earnings over the last six years.

Marchese first made a splash on the professional poker stage when he took out the $5,000 2010 Deep Stack Extravaganza in Las Vegas back in 2010. The then-22 year old outlasted a vast array of top and established players, including Greg Raymer, Vanessa Rousso and Nam Le to win the event and its US$826,648 for first place.

He made his first two WSOP money finishes later that year, one of those being in the final table (he finished sixth in the $10,000 Pot Limit Hold’em event). In 2012, Marchese looked to have found a niche as a strong high roller after he took out the $100,000 Super High Roller event in the WPT World Championship.

As well as this being his second major professional live poker tournament win, it was also the first time Marchese won a six-figure cash prize from one event. He further cemented his reputation as a top high stakes player when he took out the High Roller event in the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic in December 2012.

While he had become established as one of the top young high rollers in poker, 2014 was still a breakthrough year for Marchese as he showed he had truly become a star of the game. He won his first of three six-figure cash prizes for that year after coming third in a $100,000 Super High Roller event in Las Vegas.

He bettered that just five weeks later when he took out another $100,000 Super High Roller event to win US$1.3 million. To top off 2014, Marchese won his largest ever live tournament cash prize to date when he finished second in the $100,000 No Limit Hold’em Alpha8 event, taking home US$1,574,518 for his solid performance.

Another final table finish in the 2015 $500,000 Super High Roller Bowl event, as well as consistent strong performances at numerous other High Roller events throughout the year has led to another great year for Marchese. Still in his twenties, it is likely that the last six years of Marchese’s stellar career are just the beginning of what the poker world has seen from the ‘kingsofcards’.

The best may still be yet to come.
