Ravi Raghavan

Not all players make the big splash at the tables with their appearance and behavior, but if experience has taught us anything is that silent players can be at least as dangerous as those who attract a lot of attention to themselves. If not even more so. Ravi Raghavan is one of those names. Born in 1987, this Chicago native has started his poker dominance on the online felt playing under the nickname „govshark2“. His successes include winning the Sunday Million in '08 and Sunday 500 in '09. Other notable finishes include coming second in one of the 2010 WCOOP events and in the Full Tilt $750k. His total online earnings to date are in excess of $3,000,000, an achievement reserved only for the few most elite in the business. After taking an interest in the live circuit, his first notable finish came in 2009, when he managed to final table the WSOP $1,500 Pot Limit Hold'em event. The following year saw him continue his path to success, especially with his 5th place finish in the WPT $10k Hollywood Poker Open televised event, the achievement worth $105,000. 2011 was moderately good to him as well, but his really big wins were yet to come. Raghavan started the 2012 finishing 11th at another WPT event, followed by several WSOP cashes. Then, as year was drawing to its end, he went to play Bellagio’s WPT Five Diamond Poker Classic. Starting off strong, he took down the first place in one of the preliminary events for $150,000, only to serve as an introduction to what would become his biggest score so far. He got an entry to the $10k main event and managed to go all the way, securing nearly $1,270,000 in the process. As of right now, Ravi Raghavan has slightly over $2 million in live cashes, but since he was only present on the live circuit for relatively short period of time, and judging by his online achievements, his best results are probably still on their way. In the coming years he is very likely to become a serious contender for titles and POY leaderboards of different varieties. Unless, of course, he doesn’t get tired of the live tournaments and go back to crushing virtual felt where, seemingly, there aren’t many competitors to take him on. The players who manage to make the splash based solely on their results are always the ones to be on the lookout for, and more often than not it means that those are the names we will get used to hearing while watching the coverage of our favorite poker tournaments, probably right here, on PokerTube.
