The 14-time tennis Grand Slam winner, Rafael Nadal has accepted the challenge of football legend Ronaldo Luis Nazario de Lima, with the game scheduled to be broadcasted live from London on November 6. In the heads up poker duel, Rafa won’t have his years of tennis experience to draw upon-he’ll be facing the football legend at the poker table using all the skills he’s learned since starting his poker journey. If you are interested to see how Rafael trains for this match, you can follow his progress with video clips, ask him questions, watch live and even take him on yourself at the poker table.

The challenge planned for November will be broadcasted on PokerStars TV and Youtube. In preparation for the “Duel” Nadal will take on all-comers in a play money six-max Zoom poker session on Poker Stars. Nadal will hope to make it back-to-back wins playing on PokerStars against “The World”. Rafael Nadal will resume his training regime and will be honing his skills in preparation for the match. This training time will do him good because he has taken a short timeout from playing poker in a live environment. On the other hand, this is kind of a revenge mission for Ronaldo, because last time when he played with Nadal he lost the match, and he is hoping to book a win this time.

These two sport stars, football legend Ronaldo and World ranked No 2 professional tennis player Nadal first squared off other at the poker table in December 2013 at the European Poker Tour Prague Charity Challenge, which raised €100,000 for charity. On that occasion Nadal claimed the victory, seeing off the likes of Daniel Negreanu along with Ronaldo, en route to winning the six-man tournament.

It was my first live poker tournament when I last played against Ronaldo and one year later I am more confident with my skill level. I really enjoy playing poker and the challenge of learning as quickly as possible, so I can’t wait to get back into training on my game and to play against Ronaldo. Rafa Nadal;

Ronaldo, who is really hoping to take top honors this time, added:

I challenged rafa to a rematch after finding out he was preparing for another live poker game. The last time we played together Rafa won the match and it was a lot of fun. This time it will be different, though, because I have been improving on my own poker strategy and will be more prepared.
