It has been a wild ride here in Barcelona, some players had to face the music yesterday, but tomorrow, we are about to finally experience the crescendo. The huge field of players has been reduced to just 25. 1,500 players all came here with high hopes, but only these 25 still have a chance to turn these hopes into reality.

Day started with some hundred players still holding on to their seats, and amongst them were quite a few well known names. Martin Finger bid farewell in 44th, Marko Neumann in 47th, Davidi Kitai was sent home in 49th, Ryan Fee was eliminated in 67th, Ismael Boajang in 78th… Dominik Panka is easily the best known name that was able to pull through today with some chips to return to.

In my dreams I thought about being chip leader, but this is one in a million. I think my chances of winning are pretty good because I have a big stack and have the chip lead. Haenraets for PokerStars Blog;

But the guy who stole the day is without any doubt Bram Haenraets, a Dutch banker who earned his seat in the Main Event via $80 satellite and finished the day as he sits on top of the chip counts with just shy of 4.4 million. Piotr Sowinski is not far behind though, with 4.3 million and change, while the third place Mikkel Nielsen has some catching up to do after bagging 3.1 million tonight. Sitting on the opposite sides are Nick Rampone and Mathieu Clevet who are nursing short stacks, but still have a good chance at getting back in the contention.

Haenraets can already be happy with what he has done, as he is already guaranteed to walk away with €40,200 but he, like everybody else, will be focused on that first place that has €1,261,000 prize tag to it.

The field will play until the final table is formed tomorrow and we don’t want to predict how long it will take. Although only sixteen players need to visit the rail before the play stops for the day, it could turn into a long grind – or it could all be over quickly. Either way, we will have our final nine tomorrow!
