Public Nominations Being Accepted for 2014 Poker Hall of Fame

With the beginning of this week, a process of public nominations for 2014 Poker Hall of Fame has been initiated by WSOP.com. The first step in the process of induction is to gather a public opinion and listen to the opinion of the majority on who should be receiving this great honor.

The voting will remain open through August 15 and you can find the voting form following this link. Although you are entitled to nominate anyone you want, there are some rules that you need to follow in order for your nomination to be valid for consideration.

There are already 46 players (21 living) in the Poker Hall of Fame, and these names should not be nominated again. Further, the minimum age of nominated player should be 40 at the time of the nomination. The nominated players should be the ones who played for high stakes, stood the test of time and are well regarded by their peers. Although these terms may seem a bit vague, they essentially mean that for a player to be considered, he needs to be deserving of such an honor. Other people from the industry can be nominated as well, even if they are not player, if they have contributed to the development of poker in a significant, positive way.

Once the voting concludes on August 15, the list of nominated players will be forwarded to the Nominating Committee that will be tasked with determining the final list of eligible players from those nominated and also adding any omitted players and deserving individuals for final selection.

In September, this list will be forwarded to current living members of the Poker Hall of Fame and select media, who will then cast their ballots. Hall-of-Famers will also be able to add new names to the list and although these names will not be considered for 2014, they will be automatically added for 2015.

Two candidates with most votes will be inducted to the Poker Hall of Fame during the induction ceremony taking place during the final table of this year’s Main Event in November. Thus, two more deserving members of poker industry will be added to the list of those whom history will remember as pillars of the game we all love so much!
