Over the weekend, Party Poker rolled out a new software update designed to improve the poker-playing experience for its loyal customers.
A number of enhancements were part of the scheme that was put into effect just in time for Party's $10 million Progressive KO Series that began on Feb. 25 and will run through March 4. The 164-event festival that features buy-ins from $1.10 up to $5,200 began with a bang and will culminate next Sunday with six Championship tournaments, two of which offer prize pool guarantees of $1,000,000 each.
The first KO Series Championship Event saw 3,856 entries put up $215 in hopes of running deep in the $1 million guaranteed event. Many players likely downloaded the new software before action began, including 'BigOrator,' who topped the field and won $84,557 for first place and $33,750 more in bounties for a total prize of $118,307.
The software upgrade included the following improvements, making it easier to, among other things, view the action on the virtual felt:
- Re-introduction of the oval shaped table alongside the existing racetrack table design
- New and improved player plates with larger fonts that display chips and screen names more clearly, improving players’ multi-tabling experience
- Improved display of player notes that include the option to colour code your opponent's player plates
- A brand new time-bank indicator
- A number of smaller enhancements that include new card decks, improving the look and feel of the tables
Several players gave a thumbs up to the new design by posting their opinions on online poker forums and social media. That included Party Poker Team Pro Louise Butler:
