A Los Angeles apartment was the scene of a crime in late January in which poker pro Matt Kirk was robbed of some $420,000 in chips from casinos and cardrooms in Nevada and California.
The alleged perpetrator, Dustin Campbell, was caught and arrested in Western Illinois. Campbell was said to have $40K in cash and $20K more in casino chips at his residence.
The Los Angeles Police Department worked together with law enforcement in Illinois to apprehend the suspect. LAPD apparently tracked Campbell down by viewing security camera tapes that showed the 32-year-old cashing in $200K in chips following the theft. Campbell then wasted no time in catching a flight to Chicago with his ill-gotten gains.
Kirk is a native Australian with live tournament winnings of almost $190,000, according to the Hendon Mob. His biggest score in tournament play occurred in 2008 at the Aussie Millions where an 11th place finish in the Main Event was good for $118,669.
Bond for Campbell was set at $20,000, according to www.connecttristates.com.
