Durrrr Challenge to Resume?

Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Dan “Jungleman” Cates may be heading toward a resumption of the Durrrr Challenge, according to a recent 2 + 2 post by the Jungleman.

The match began in 2010 when Dwan offered 3 to 1 odds on $500,000, claiming that he would take on anybody heads up and be ahead after 50,000 hands. Cates was all too happy to oblige and grabbed a big lead before Black Friday hit in 2011.

Name calling and online verbal sparring ensued before an agreement to continue was apparently reached between the pair in 2013. But it seems the Macau cash games have been more to Dwan’s liking as of late and the challenge got tossed aside. Maybe not for long.

“Tom and I have had some disputes but I believe we have essentially resolved them,” Jungleman posted. “The challenge is agreed to be played out in the next 9 months (God-willing). I think tom intends on finishing the challenge but has been distracted by things of great importance…”

Those matters of great importance were apparently the illegal gambling arrests in Nevada of Macau high stakes regulars Paul Phua and Richard Yong. Dwan reportedly supported Phua by appearing in court.

About half the challenge has been completed. A new poker site will likely have to be chosen, as Full Tilt has dumped its high stakes offerings in favor of a poker room that befriends recreational players.
