The TwitchTV poker record was shattered this week when German streamer Jens ‘Knossi’ Knossala topped out his stream of the PokerStars Stadium Series with 91,680 concurrent viewers.

That almost doubled the previous record for a poker stream on Twitch, Lex Veldhuis’ SCOOP run peaking at 58,416 viewers earlier this year.

There were, though, a couple of big differences, the most obvious being that Knossala was sweating a friend, nicknamed Knueppel, in the $1,050 buy-in Wrap  Up, the eventual 2nd place finish worth $117,435.

The other is that the German is known for way more than his poker playing, with television presenter, comedy entertainer and reality TV guest all on a wide and varied résumé.

With Instagram, YouTube and TwitchTV followings all topping the 1million mark, Knossala had a definite headstart in the poker record-breaking stakes.

However, this week’s stream and the likes of Veldhuis’ earlier records show that poker streaming is certainly heading in the right direction.

Knossi’s most-watched poker clip, however, had many reaching for the bucket when he opened fan mail on stream that contained a repulsive surprise!

The German himself has live poker winnings of almost $50,000, the majority of that coming from a 240th place run at the 2013 WSOP Main Event.
