The World Poker Tour has announced that its upcoming stop in the Philippines from January 2-8 will feature a Super High Roller event with the largest buy-in in WPT history - $200,000.

The WPT National Philippines Festival of Poker kicks off the new year at the Solaire Resort & Casino in Manila with 13 events on the week-long schedule. In addition to the record-breaking Super High Roller, the docket includes a $165 Ladies Event, the $50,000 guaranteed Poker King Cup, a $5,400 High Roller, and the featured $1,650 Main Event beginning on Jan. 4.

The Main Event allows one re-entry in flights 1A and 1B, and players can compete in both flights and move forward with their largest stack into Day 2. Re-entries are also permitted for the Super High Roller, the event that has the poker world buzzing with excitement.

"We at Poker King Club always aim to push the boundaries of poker," said club president Winfred Yu of the Super High Roller. The Poker King Club and the Cali Group are organizing the massive buy-in tournament that is expected to draw the game's top poker pros as well as wealthy Asian businessmen.

This is the second consecutive year that WPT Philippines will be held at the Solaire Resort and Casino, which has fast become a favorite destination of poker's elite.

Last year, both local and international players showcased their skills at Solaire, and we are confident they will continue to demonstrate the very best in poker during Season XIV of the WPT," said Solaire marketing boss Cyrus Sherafat. "We also believe poker fans enjoy watching the world-class poker competition here at Solaire, and look forward to welcoming back the great fans and players."

The WPT has hosted $100,000 buy-in Super High Rollers previously, but never double that amount. Poker pros have a busy schedule in January. Along with the WPT Philippines from Jan. 2-8, the annual PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas is slated for Jan. 6-14. Jet lag may really set in later in the month when players follow that up with a trip to the Aussie Millions from Jan. 13 - Feb. 1.
