Dan Bilzerian PSA Satisfies Plea Deal

The "King of Instagram" may have a knack for titillating over seven million followers via his social media postings, but when it comes to making public service announcements, Dan Bilzerian's effort left a lot to be desired.
The Instagram playboy's PSA regarding acting responsibly while shooting guns and creating explosions on public land was released on April Fool's Day. There is irony in there somewhere, but I will leave it up to Bilzerian's devoted following to determine for themselves exactly where.
The PSA was a requirement following an incident in November when Bilzerian reportedly blew up a semi-trailer in the Nevada desert and failed to clean up the mess that ensued. He was arrested about a month later in California and charged with felonies related to explosives.
Our justice system being what it is, Bilzerian's lawyers successfully negotiated a deal with prosecutors that saw the trust fund millionaire plead no contest to a misdemeanor charge, pay a fine, and based on his stature as a public figure due to his own self-promotion on social media, make a PSA for the Bureau of Land Management advising others to be responsible when it comes to shooting firearms and blowing stuff up.
Reading from a script, Bilzerian urges viewers to "shoot responsibly and follow the rules" when on public land. His message, delivered in monotone, lacks a certain pizazz that one might expect from someone who had a few roles in Hollywood movies. But then again, the message was a court-ordered sanction as part of the plea that will keep Bilzerian from spending time behind bars for his actions.
"Jail, let's not do that again," Bilzerian stated in the PSA, recalling the few hours spent in confinement following his arrest. And he won't be doing that again - at least on the 2014 explosives charges - thanks to making the uninspired PSA.
