What happens when Neymar Jr teams up with PokerStars and invites his buddies and others willing to donate to a worthy cause to a charity poker game in Sao Paulo? Simple. The footballer ends up raising over $100K that will go toward helping the underprivileged in Brazil through the Neymar Jr Institute.

The Neymar Jr Charity Home Game was held July 26 during the Brazilian Series of Poker (BSOP). More than 80 players kicked in the $1,000 buy-in and over 40 of those dug into their pockets to re-buy, the PokerStars Blog reported. The result was a hugely successful and fun game of poker.

While Neymar Jr was the star of the evening, those who entered the event also got a chance to rub elbows with Team PokerStars Pros Andre Akkari and Felipe ‘Mojave’ Ramos. The latter is a recent addition to the PokerStars pro roster and a good friend of Neymar Jr.

Players finishing in the money in the Neymar Jr Charity Home Game were awarded various prizes provided by PokerStars, as well as souvenirs autographed by Neymar Jr. The big prize was a BSOP Millions entry.

But those who really landed in the money were the poor located in and around Neymar’s old neighborhood in Brazil. Many will have a greater opportunity to excel in life thanks to Neymar Jr and all who attended the charity home game.
