What started out as a 446 player event just two days ago has now been whittled down to just 11 as the United Kingdom and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) Bristol Main Event enters its final day.

A total of 126 players made the cut to Day 2 after surviving the event’s two starting flights, but the strong competition meant players kept on getting eliminated throughout the second day of play.

UK player Chi Zhang will enter Day 3 as the chip leader, with a stack of 1,804,000 to his name. There was no major hand that propelled him into the chip lead. Instead, his large chip stack can mainly be attributed to a huge amount of smaller wins throughout Day 2.

Nonetheless, though, Zhang is now in the driver’s seat and he has put himself in a great position to take out the UKIPT Bristol Main Event.

Not far behind Zhang is Belgian player Pierrick Tallon, who will enter the final day of play with 1,420,000 chips. He is closely followed by Irishman Joseph Lalor, who finished Day 2 with 1,376,000 chips.

Neil Van Der Merwe had the chip lead when Day 2 got underway, and he looked to be in good shape to go far in the event.

However, the UK player was eliminated later on the day as competition between the remaining players intensified in a big way.

The top 63 players in this event were in the money, with the minimum cash prize having stood at £1,350 (around US$2,095).

The first player to be eliminated in the final day of play (11th place) is set to leave with an extra £4,570 (around US$7,080), while that will double for the seventh placed player, who will receive £9,700 (around US$15,030) for their efforts.

The runner up in the Main Event is set to earn £36,800 (around US$57,020), which is significantly less than the £58,500 (around US$90,645) that is set to be awarded to the winner.

As always, we at PokerTube will keep readers up to date on the UKIPT Bristol Main Event final table when all of the action has taken place.
