Bitcoin Poker Site BitnPlay Announces Launch

BitnPlay, the new Bitcoin poker site that aimed to launch in February but was forced back to the drawing board due to "unexpected server problems," has announced that it is now up and running.

That announcement came via email to its customers as the Bitnplay Team revealed that the last two months were spent diligently working "to stabilize the poker software, our security and the payment system." Those issues have apparently been rectified and the site has launched under a public beta.

Sit & Go’s at micro-stakes are currently being hosted. While the games are underway, BitnPlay is encouraging and accepting suggestions as to which stakes and games players would most favor.

Those who regularly read this space may recall that BitnPlay has promised "a new age for poker" that is centered around the lack of trust that players may have for online poker operators. BitnPlay's strategy entails not keeping player funds in accounts at the site, but rather facilitating payments via Bitcoin wallets.

The industry's top Bitcoin-only site, SealsWithClubs, was forced offline in February after the Las Vegas home of the site's chairman was raided by law enforcement at the behest of Nevada gaming regulators. The site has since moved its operations to a new locale and re-launched under a new domain and with a new management team in place.

Bitcoin as a payment processing alternative has gained a bit more acceptance in the online poker industry since 2015 began as the U.S.-friendly Winning Poker Network now accepts the cryptocurrency across all network skins. And rumors persist regarding industry-leading PokerStars perhaps adding Bitcoin to its cashier.
