The Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) Peru has well and truly gotten underway in Peru's capital city of Lima.

A total of 366 entries were recorded in the event’s two starting flights, a solid turn out for one of the first major poker events held following the WSOP. Of those 366, 129 made the cut to the second day of play, which got even more intense as players from all over Latin America and the world vied for a top place finish.

32 players were left at the end of Day 2, a number which will be reduced further when Day 3 of the Main Event resumes at Monday afternoon local time.

Chilean poker pro Andres Herrera will have the overall chip lead when the third day of play gets underway. Herrera finished Day 2 with 535,000 chips to his name, which makes him the only player who currently has a stack of over half a million chips.

Patricio Rojas is not too far off that number, however. He finished Day 2 with a stack of 493,500, which puts him in a good position to advance far into this event.

Other notable chip stacks going into Day 3 belong to Andres dos Santos and Leiv Kare Johannessen, who will go into Day 3 almost neck-and-neck with 478,000 and 477,500 chips respectively.

The prize pool for the LAPT Peru was also announced early in the event. Top 55 players in this year’s Main Event made the money, with the minimum cash prize having been US$3,960.

Ninth place (the first player to be eliminated from the final table) is set to leave with US$15,420, while fifth place is set to receive almost three times that amount at US45,540.

The second placed player in the Main Event stands to get a US$99,300 boost to their bank account.

First place, on the other hand, will receive US$156,576 for their poker playing efforts, which will make them the only player in the event to receive a six-figure cash prize.

As always, we at PokerTube will keep readers updated with the major action at the LAPT Peru Main Event as it progresses.
