Rivers Casino, Pittsburgh hosted the Pittsburgh Poker Open tournament last weekend. Casino was opened in 2009, and this year it was voted “The Best Place to Work”, “The Best Overall Gaming Resort” and “The Best Overall Casino” by different magazines. Impressive Pittsburgh-based casino features more than 2,900 slots, 83 game-tables and 30 tables in their poker room.
The Pittsburgh Poker Open Main Event was won by Phil Hellmuth, known in the poker world as “Poker Brat”, 13-time bracelet winner, in the early hours of Monday morning. This is Phil’s first live poker tournament victory in over a year. Last time he won a side event at the EPT London in October 2013.

There were 255 entrants to the event. The victory brought Hellmuth $54,000 plus a crystal trophy, after beating David Baker, the 2012 World Series of Poker bracelet winner, in the heads-up play. Baker earned $40,000 for his runner-up finish.
Joseph Couden and Matt Glantz also made the final four. The Main Event was presented as a part of the Poker Night in America, primarily series of televised cash games played in the casinos across the USA. As of recent, PokerTube has teamed up with the Poker Night in America to bring you the live streaming of the action from different venues. Next edition should be featured on December xx bringing you the Ladies’ Night.
Pittsburgh Poker Open victory was 54th win in Hellmuth’s 27 years long poker career. Going back in time, his first-ever victory in a bigger tournament came in the preliminary event at the 1988 Pot of Gold at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada. He earned $17,500 for his efforts.
Phil Hellmuth hasn’t earned much in 2014, but still he stays in the GPI Top 300 because he had a pretty strong summer during the WSOP in Las Vegas. He cashed seven times, earning over $200,000 this summer at the Rio Hotel and Casino.
During the Event 45 of this year’s Series, Phil Helmuth finished 2nd to Ted Forrest in the $1,500 buy-in 7-card Razz, coming inches away from claiming his fourteenth bracelet. Still, Hellmuth holds the record for the most WSOP bracelets that will be very hard to match or break, as closest contenders, Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan and, as of this year, Phil Ivey have 10
