Phil Hellmuth has reconfirmed his place as the most successful player in the WSOP history by winning his 14th World Series of Poker bracelet. Known as a 'Poker Brat' because of his temperament at the tables, Hellmuth is all-time WSOP bracelet leader and his lead has just become that much harder to catch.

When Hellmuth was only 24 years old he managed to defeat Johnny Chan during the WSOP Main Event in 1989 and became the youngest WSOP Main Event Champion at the time. Hellmuth is not only the WSOP bracelet leader but he also holds the record in all-time World Series of Poker cashes.

Apart from the coveted bracelet, his most recent victory in the $10,000 Razz Championship brought him another $271,105 bringing his lifetime earnings at the WSOP to a grand total of $12,783,905.

Lining up alongside with 103 players in the $10k event, Hellmuth started many rumors about his possible 14th bracelet. He was holding the chip lead for most of the final table that included Adam Owen, Thomas Keller, Mike Leah, Stephen Chidwick, Brandon Shack-Harris, Jyri Merivirta and Mike Gorodinsky.

Hellmuth did not have an easy task if he was to win his number 14 as there were 17 WSOP bracelets among the players at the final table. On the other hand, thirteen of those were his.

In the end, Hellmuth found himslef heads up for the title against Mike Gorodinsky, one time bracelet winner. Phil was in a similar spot last year when he went head to head against Ted Forrest in a $1,500 Razz event, but he couldn't close the deal. This time around, poker gods showed their favor for the 'Brat' as although he started with the chip deficit, Hellmuth quickly regained the lead and then proceeded to wrap the things up, claiming the historic WSOP bracelet number 14.

Hellmuth described heads-up match with Mike as one of the quietest heads-up he ever had before. He added that Mike is tough opponent and that he needed all of his concentration to beat him.

It was certainly an epic victory, but Phil made it clear that he didn’t want to win just for the glory or the money. After it was all over, Hellmuth explained to crowd that he lost a friend, Dave Goldberg, a month ago. Dedicating this win to his good friend, Phil decided to give a bracelet that he won to Dave’s kids and wife.

Hellmuth is regarded by many as one of the greatest No Limit Hold’em tournament players of all time. Despite of some trying to dispute this title, Phil's results speak for themselves.
