Poker Trending in Football Players Circles

Chelsea midfielder Oscar is apparently following the latest trend of football stars who are showing off their poker skills on social media as he posted pictures from his very own home poker game. The fact that some of the football players enjoy playing poker hasn't attracted so much media attention until Neymar recently signed a contract with PokerStars.

Oscar hosted a poker game with his friends and posted an Instagram shot with a winner’s trophy. It seems that poker became some kind of a trend among football stars as some of the most successful football players are posting Instagram pictures of them playing poker.

Three weeks ago Cristiano Ronaldo posted picture of himself playing poker on Instagram which caused rumors about his connection with the largest poker site in the world, PokerStars. It appears that Portuguese Real Madrid football star used PokerStars branded chips so people assumed that new sponsorship deal might come soon.

One of the comments below the Cristiano's picture (deleted since) said “Just try and convince me this isn't Neymar's fault” . Young super star Neymar, with his massive social media following, is valuable addition to PokerStars and he will certainly provide a lot of visibility for the company among football fans. Neymar confirmed that he signed a contract with PokerStars while Cristiano Ronaldo caused some rumors that he might be the next PokerStars Sponsored pro.

Cristiano of course didn't confirm those rumors and people can only guess whether football star will be the newest addition to the Team PokerStars. Amaya Gaming is currently looking into launching Fantasy Sports product via PokerStars so the addition of the football super star would certainly make sense.

David Baazov, the head of Amaya, said that he hopes that the new product will be implemented before the NFL season in September.

Some of the biggest names in sports like football legend Ronaldo and tennis player Nadal are already part of the team Stars. Who knows, maybe Cristiano who is one of the best football players in the world will join the Team Sport Stars soon and PokerStars could start a football team of their own.

Cristiano’s good looks have brought him mega sponsorships like his long term deal with Nike so it would certainly be a big day for both PokerStars and Ronaldo if they signed a contract.

Neymar will probably play more poker in the upcoming months so there is and it will be interesting to see football/poker players match-ups. One of the best things for poker ever, as unlikely as it is to happen, would be to see Neymar, Cristiano and Brazilian legend Ronaldo all at the same final table of a major event, battling it out for a trophy and the pride (money probably isn't that big of a consideration for them).
