6th Place Finish for Boski at the Wynn
7 years ago04 Mar
Jeff 'Boski' Sluzinski had his day of poker all planned out including a Plan 'B' and a Plan 'C' if his initial tournament entry happened to result in an early elimination.
There would be no need to register late for the Venetian $600 or the $365 Rio circuit event, as the $225 Re-buy at the Wynn found Jeff sitting at the final table with a huge stack of chips in front of him.
Check-raise Shove
Those chips were put to the test by a female player seated UTG who opened for 20K at the blind level of 4K/8K. Boski three-bet to 55K and was called, watching intently as the flop brought him middle pair.
Post-flop checks followed by another check by his opponent on the turn prompted Sluzinski to bet 40K into a 130K pot. A snap all-in shove by the woman who had Boski covered in chips put the vlogger in the tank for awhile before folding to the check-raiser.
Lassoed by a Cowboy
Down to 180K in chips after the lay down - which turned out to be the correct play after his opponent later revealed that she had the better hand - Boski managed to build his stack back up to 250K. However, at the 6K/12K blind level, Sluzinski ran into a player in a cowboy hat holding pocket queens, crippling his stack to 50K when his overcard ace failed to connect on the board.
A 6th place finish was Boski's destiny not long after the cowboy roped him, taking home $2,050 minus the buy-in and $100 add-on.
"Fu*king hurts, man," Sluzinski said after leaving the casino at 1:30 a.m. He obviously expected much more from himself after being at or near the chip lead with 380K at one point.
No worries, Jeff. There are undoubtedly plenty more victories in your future.
