70 Players Advance to the Day 3 of WSOP APAC

This year’s flagship event of the WSOP APAC – the AU$10,000 Main Event - attracted 328 players in total, creating a prize pool of AU$3,125,500. The first of the two starting flights attracted 129 runners, and after six levels of play just 70 players remained. Tobias Reinkemeier from Germany was the leader of the Day 1A with the stack of 171,925. Other players who made it through Day 1A with big stacks were Asa Smith (156,450), Ivan Zhou (153,200), Craig Blight (144,950) and Sean Winter (124,175).

Day 1B started with 195 runners and brought the combined field to 324 players, with the late registration open until the start of play on Day 2. Day 1B of the World Series of Poker Asia – Pacific AU$10,000 Main Event finished with 117 survivors and Sydney’s Tam Truong as the chip leader with an impressive stack of 155,875 in chips. The other big stacks from Day 1B were Kahle Burns (152,050), Michael O’Grady (148,475) and Victor Teng (140,325).

Day 2 started with a combined 182 players from Day 1A and Day 1B and five more players that opted to take advantage of the late registration. After a full day of play, Kyle Montgomery leads advancing 70 players with a stack of 595,000 chips. Other four top stacks at the end of the Day 2 include Victor Teng (511,800), Jackie Glazier (444,700), Ivan Zhou (430,000) and Henry Wang (307,100). The winner of the Main Event of the 2014 World Series of Poker APAC will take home AU$850,136, WSOP bracelet and a trophy while the rest of the money will be distributed amongst the top 36 players.

Notables to hit the rail included Russell Thomas, Joe Hachem, Jeff Lisandro, Phil Hellmuth

Some more big names who will be returning for the Day 3 are the 2010 WSOP Player of the Year Frank Kassela (267,500), Alex Antonios (228,000) and Sam Higgs (117,800) - 2014 WSOP Asia – Pacific bracelet winners. Other notables returning for the Day 3 include EPT Grand Final runner – up Jack Salter (171,500), Australian sports legend Shane Warne (162,300), Brian Rast (136,600), Day 1A chip leader Tobias Reinkemeier (93,900), and WSOP champion Jonathan Duhamel with just 3,000 chips.
