The MPN Poker Tour (MPNPT) has named the Montesino Casino in Vienna, Austria as its first tour stop in 2016, with the festival scheduled to run from January 21-24.

The Main Event features a guaranteed prize pool of €200,000 and a buy-in of of €550. Satellites are already running now at participating MPN skins, some with buy-ins as low as €0.25.

The announcement follows a successful tour stop in Dublin the beginning of this month that saw 570 players take part.

“Our event in Dublin had a huge prize pool of €256,500 and we expect to beat that with the Vienna festival,” said Alex Scott, Head of Poker at Microgaming. “Vienna is an amazing city that can only be made better by a weekend of top-quality poker action.”

MPNPT Vienna packages available to satellite winners are valued at €1,500 and include a €550 entry to the Main Event, a €150 entry into a side event, a four-night stay at the luxurious Roomz Hotel, a welcome party, and additional cash to cover travel expenses.

MPN on the Move

Formerly known as the Microgaming Poker Network, MPN has enjoyed a resurgence as of late and finds itself just outside of the top ten in worldwide player traffic.

The network gained cash game players this month, according to PokerScout, and may soon land within the top ten. MPN (650) trails 10th-ranked PokerStars.fr (750) by 100 players in a seven-day average.

The upswing may be partly due to the announcement from Scott about a week ago stating that MPN players will be allowed to change their screen names every 30 days or 1,000 real-money hands. The change was implemented for the benefit of casual players who can now avoid being targeted by more experienced players.
