Former poker pro and the man who got the community buzzing once again after several astounding performances in the Jeopardy games show, Alex Jacob, has been eliminated after his streak of six victories was cut on Monday evening.

Although there were some in the 2+2 community predicting a Ken Jennings like-run for Jacob, it wasn't meant to be. The man who entered the Guinness World Records book as the person to have won most money playing game shows, Jennings went on a streak of 74 consecutive victories, earning more than $2.5 million in the process.

Jacob was showing a high level of knowledge and strategic thinking during his appearances, but unfortunately, he will not be breaking any records, as a mix of bad luck and some ill-timed questions cost him a victory.

Alex went through the first round with flying colors, with a big advantage over his opposition and everything suggested that he will have another easy evening. During the second round, Monica actually got very close to matching Jacob's result, but then he found a Daily Double and, in his usual fashion, decided to bet it all; after answering correctly, he was once again in the big lead.

Still, it seemed like Alex wasn't his old self during the second part of the show, as he wasn't completely dominating the show like previous times. After Todd caught the second Daily Double and gave the correct answer, he got close enough to represent a real threat with few more questions left, plus the Final Jeopardy.

Alex was still holding on to his lead heading into the Final Jeopardy, but then came the question that would cost him the victory: The social media company launched in October 2010; in 2012, with about a dozen employees & no revenue, it sold for $1 billion.

Todd was the only one who offered the correct answer: what is Instagram, and that answer gave him the victory, ending Jacob's winning streak. Alex answered what is Twitter, waving goodbye to those who were following his progress.

Alex made a total of $149,802 for his run (plus the 2k for his last night second place finish), which is certainly very respectable. All the knowledge aside, game shows are often about luck as well, and sometimes it's just not your day. It was a fun run to follow and it started some interesting Jeopardy GTO discussions over on 2+2, so if you are planning on making a run at the show yourself, make sure to check those out - some solid advice in there.

Good game Alex, big congrats, it was a great fun!

Jacob should be making an appearance in the Tournament of Champions at a later date.
