Jacquelyn Scott won Ladies No-Limit Hold’em Championship and collected her first WSOP gold bracelet.

Ladies World Poker Championship has been played at the World Series of Poker since 1997. From 1977 through 2003 the event was played on the Mother’s Day. However it caused some conflicts because many ladies wanted to participate in the event but they also had family commitments on the Mother’s Day. In 2004, the event designed for women in poker, was moved on a different day and since 2005 the World Series of Poker has been played during the summer times.

The elite list of the ladies who won multiple Ladies Poker Championship titles includes Nani Dollisson, Barbara Enright and Susie Isaacs who also cashed five out of six times in this event between 1991 and 1997. Jennifer Tilly is one of the most famous poker players who won the gold bracelet in this event. Tilly won the Ladies Poker Championship in 2005 which was the first year that the tournament format featured No-Limit Hold’em.

From 1997 until 2001 ladies who participated in this event played Seven- Card Stud. In 2001 the game was changed to a mix of a No-Limit Hold’em and Stud and in 2005, when Tilly won the title, the tournament format featured No-Limit Hold’em exclusively, and that's how it remains to this day.

This year’s Ladies Poker Championship attracted 795 players, generating the prize pool of $715,500. The event has a $10,000 buy-in but females are given 90% discount on the entry fee so they were required to pay $1,000.

When heads-up duel began Jacquelyn Scott has started the match with 4 to 1 chip lead. Hope Williams who finished as a runner up got eliminated very quickly by the 66-year-old Jacquelyn. She took home the first place prize of $153,856 while Hope Williams banked $95,039.

It was the first time that Jacquelyn cashed at the World Series of Poker and the first time that she participated in the Ladies Poker Championship. She has participated in the WSOP Main Event several times and has entered several World Poker Tour events. Jacquelyn has sat at the same table with former champ Greg Raymer and actor Jason Alexander in 2009. Although she failed to cash, Scott did make it through the Day 1.

Scott said to WSOP.com blog that she is very proud of her victory and that it was a great tournament with a great atmosphere at the table. She claimed that she was very impressed by player’s behavior and kindness during the tournament.

66-year-old who now works for Re-Max is a former registered nurse. Before she worked as a nurse she sold medical equipment to hospitals and doctors. An interesting fact from that period of her life is that Jacquelyn sold the first defibrillator in the United States during early 1900s.

There were no former gold bracelets winners at the final table.
