Anthony Zinno has been crowned the WPT Season XIII Player of the Year. His success was made official early into the Day 2 of WPT World Championship after the only contender for the title Darren Elias was sent to the rail.

Zinno enjoyed some quite impressive results during this season of the WPT as he won Fallsview Poker Classic in February and, two weeks later, LA Poker Classic 2015, showing that he is one of the best live tournament players around.

These victories, combined with some other deep runs, secured him the WPT Season XIII PoY title. Darren Elias was trying to catch up with Zinno, but his exit at the start of Day 2 in Borgata meant that the title was safe in Zinno's hands.

Although Zinno was the most dominating player through this season, Elias didn't lag far behind. He went back-to-back by winning the Borgata Poker Open in September and WPT Caribbean in November. Darren also cashed in six WPT events, earning right about $1.06m during the season, while Zinno cashed in five other WPT events, winning in excess of $1.4m in the process.

The GPI formula was used to determine who would claim the title. Prior to the last event, Zinno was in the lead with 2,056.15 points followed by Elias with 1,777.8 and in the third place Jarred Jaffe with 1,346.34. It was clear that Jarred Jaffe couldn't catch Zinno so the race for the title was officially between Anthony and Darren.

As the Player of the Year, Zinno received one of a kind customized Hubolt watch. In the upcoming season, he will also receive some perks such as hotel accommodations for every WPT event he plays next season. He will also have some support when it comes to ground transportation to the events.

Zinno finished runner-up in the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown earlier in April, raking in $41,284. In March, Anthony took down the $25,000 buy-in High Roller tournament at WPT Bay Shooting Stars event. Currently, he has more than $3,000,000 in total live tournament earnings and, according to the Global Poker Index, he is currently ninth in POY 2015 rankings.

When these wins combine with two WPT Main Event titles, Anthony has had the most impressive start to 2015. Before he chose poker as his career, Zinno studied chemical engineering and earned law degree. He joined Gus Hansen and Carlos Mortensen as third player to have won three titles on the World Poker Tour.
