Do you enjoy playing PokerStars tournaments on the weekends but don't have the time, patience (or stamina) to play a huge event all in one day?

Apparently, many players do. PokerStars listened to player feedback and will introduce a 2-day MTT called "The Weekender" that is set to run for six hours on Saturdays beginning at 16:30 CET before play is paused until the following day, Sunday.

The action on Day 2 for those players remaining kicks off at the same starting time as the day before until a winner is declared. The 8-max tournament features a $530 buy-in and $100,000 guaranteed prize pool, with satellites running for $5.50 and up.

Day One (Saturday) of the Weekender consists of 25 levels with a starting chip stack of $10,000 and blinds set at 20/40/5. The blinds are 12 minutes in length for the first 10 levels, followed by 15 minutes for the next 15 levels..

Day Two (Sunday) allows for a bit slower play with blind levels each 20 minutes in duration. The guarantee and structure may be tweaked in coming weeks depending on player participation, and perhaps, feedback. But the first Weekender will kick off this Saturday, August 15, under the parameters mentioned above.

No longer will players be forced to play into the wee hours of the morning to complete a deep event in one take. And those who bag chips for Day 2 can benefit from a good night's sleep before logging on and navigating their way through the field on Sunday.

The Weekender is an idea whose time has come, benefiting both recs and regs alike. How many players have elected not to buy-in to deep tournaments in the past due to the length of time needed to complete the event in one fell swoop? We will find out this Saturday at PokerStars!
