Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies Exits Survivor Island In Disgrace

Survival of the Finish

For fans of American junk-TV Survivor is a kind of perennial background noise. However if you’re interested in watching a local version it can be a little harder to find. In Finland it has been off the air for five years, returning in 2018 with a celebrity season.

Originally developed for Finnish television by MTV3, Selviyitjat Suomi (Survivor Finland) ran for one season and died. This latest Celebrity season revival was put together by a different channel: Nelonen (meaning “Four”), and as you might expect for a Scandi celebrity programme it includes a degen or two.

From the poker world, Ilari Sahamies – better known online as Ziigmund – was repping the game.

The Fire Next Time

Ziigmund has a little under $2 million in tournament winnings but his real challenge was not card sharks or dodging bullets but keeping ahead of his teammates who have just voted him off the show.

Game Over...oli mahtava reissu Selviytyjissä...ikävä oli poitsuu,Elluu,kavereita ja tietty mutsii...lähtisin uudestaan🙂

He did pretty well, being praised throughout for out-strategizing his foes but he failed his last immunity challenge and was sent to the island’s rail in fourth place without a medal and having lost about 33 kg.

The poker pro is clearly considering upping his TV game if he can wrangle a next time saying:

“If I would participate again, I could perhaps come up with an even better strategy.”
